Port City Blues Society Mission Statement
The Port City Blues Society is a member and community supported, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to promote, perpetuate, and advance the culture and tradition of Blues as an art form indigenous to America. Formed in 2016, the Port City Blues Society strives to fulfill its mission by encouraging and facilitating both performance and educational events and projects. Our focus is on “Keeping the Blues Alive!”
The purpose of the Port City Blues Society. is to promote the blues and culture of Delta Blues music in the Pine Bluff area and the Southeast Arkansas region through promoting local artists as well as regional and national talent, fostering an appreciation of the blues, educating the public about Delta Blues and supporting charitable and educational activities useful to the individual and beneficial to the communities served by the program.
We will also support musicians and blues venues by encouraging live performances of blues, exchange information about blues-related events by providing a forum in Pine Bluff and the Southeast Arkansas area where people can share their appreciation and love for the blues, and support community events and organizations by sponsoring events that will benefit the general community.
We are an all-volunteer organization, so there is no central office or staff, but we make up for that with lots of heart and email! Please feel free to contact us here with questions and/or suggestions – we are happy to help! We really do want to hear from you.
